More You

“Rather, in humility, value others above yourselves.” (Philippians 2:3)

Personally, I think this is the hardest verse in the Bible to obey. And I think our society could say the same thing. “Be you”, “Do you”, “Love yourself” – sayings like this surround us night and now. Of course I believe that self-love and self-care are very important, but I think that it’s time we take our life focus off ourselves, and pay more attention to those around us – like Jesus did.

I’ve found that constantly focusing on myself and fulfilling my own desires leaves me empty. Jesus knows that, and that is why He calls us to do something that leaves us alive and energized! Serve.

Serving doesn’t always have to mean doing huge projects like helping build someone’s house or opening a food kitchen. While big serving projects are wonderful, Serving can also be simply. It can be simply reminding ourselves throughout our day – more you.

So much focus is on me, my way, my life. If we simply turn our main focus off “me” and onto “you” it makes a world of difference. The little things don’t matter so much. Someone cuts you off in traffic? Instead of angrily asking how could they do that to ME? we could swith to thinking I wonder what would drive YOU to do that, YOU must be having a bad day. And then the focus is off us. The irritation melts away, and we have more empathy.

How I’ve started reminding myself to focus on others is writing this little mantra on my hand “More You”. Every time I look down and see if, I ask myself – how can I respond better, more focused on others? This has helped me so much over the past few days and I want to encourage to do the same!

Lifting our eyes off of “Me” and onto Jesus changes the way we think and live. “Me” is lost from sight as selfishness melts away into a selfless love for others.

Will you choose with me today to “value others above yourselves”? It will truly change your life.

Thanks so much for reading sweet friend – stay close to Jesus,

Lots of love,

Life with My Beloved Vol. 2 – Be Like Jesus

Be like Jesus. That sounds like a pretty daunting task, doesn’t it? Perfect, really truly without fault. I don’t even come close – none of us do. But it’s actually a command to us as Christians.

“Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Matthew‬ ‭5:48

So there it is, clear as day. Be perfect. How in the world is that possible? Well, on our own, it certainly is not.

The issue many of us find ourselves in, is struggling on our own to make ourselves perfect. We think that if we remind ourselves moment by moment to be like Jesus, we will. And maybe this helps our actions, but does this really change our heart? We can strive day after day to change our own heart, but after a while, it will just get too hard.

The only way we can be perfect is by surrendering fully to Christ. We have to give our whole heart into His hands in order to be like Him. Every deep corner and hidden place in our hearts must be emptied of ourselves and given away. This can be a difficult, painful process, but in the end, it’s always worth it.

Jesus longs for us to give ourselves to Him. He is so excited to us to give our all and come to Him. He promises in Isaiah,

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” (30:21‬)

When we give our whole heart to Christ, He will be the one to mold it and change it into perfection. We don’t have to experience the struggle of changing our stubborn old hearts, Jesus offers to do it for us! He wants us to be just like Him, because He knows that is what will make us most happy.

He is waiting to show you the way with eager, open arms. Why not run to Him?

Love from,

Life with My Beloved Vol. 1 – When You Feel Far Away

Happy Sunday friends! I hope your weekend has been lovely. I’ve been camping with friends and hanging out at the beach – so I have nothing to complain about!

Today I’m starting my first post series of many – this one called “Life with My Beloved” is filled encouragement for your Christian life. As followers of Christ, our Beloved One, we all have struggles with our faith from time to time, so it is my prayer that with this post (and the many to follow) you will be encouraged and strengthened in your faith!

This post is dedicated to a struggle that I have personally, and I hope you will be able to relate to my thoughts:)

Feeling far from God – sometimes even when we pray every day, read our Bibles and go to church, we can still feel distant.

The key thing to notice is the word ‘feel’. So often we can feel things that are not true. But it is essential that we never take these feelings to heart! In Jeremiah we are told that “the heart is deceitful above all things.” What could be more true? God warns us that there will be temptations, there will be struggles, there will be deceptions, and they is why He longs so desperately for us to cling to Him. When you feel far from God, that is when you must cling to Him and believe that He is never far away. One of my favorite verses goes as follows:

“The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8

So my dear friend, if you are ever discouraged and feel far from Our Savior, please remember that He is always right by your side, just waiting to take your hand.

Blessings as you continue on your journey with Jesus!

Love from,
